📝Photographer’s Note: Sometimes (a LOT of times) the right shot isn’t your best shot. At least that is the way I feel about this one. The subjects are there, the composition is there, but because my settings weren’t right the photo isn’t as crisp as I would like it to be. I’m ok with shots like this because I can see where I went wrong and know how to adjust next time.

❓Did you know the hummingbird is said to be the only bird that can fly backwards? The majority of living things can move both forward and backwards including numerous flightless birds like ostriches, but most birds cannot fly backwards. Over 99% of all the bird species cannot fly backward.

❓ Did you know hummingbirds have 1,000 to 1,500 feathers, the fewest number of feathers of any bird species in the world? Not only do they not need as many feathers because of their tiny size, but fewer feathers also keeps them more lightweight for easier flight.

❓Did you know the average ruby-throated hummingbird weighs just 3 grams? In comparison, a nickel weighs 4.5 grams. It would take more than 150 ruby-throated hummingbirds to weigh one pound!
