HUMMINGBIRDS. The smallest of all birds they are native to the Americas and comprise the biological family. Trochilidae. With about 360 species, they occur from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, but the vast majority of the species are found in the tropics (source: Wikipedia )
If you’ve followed along with me for a while you know that for the past 4 years hummingbirds have been one of my favorite photography challenges. They are sneaky and quick. You never know when they will appear. I have spent countless hours waiting and watching for these tiny garden fairies to appear, hoping to get the perfect shot!
I had almost given up on them this year. And it seems like a lot of other hummingbird watchers had given up as well. But, the past few weeks these little garden fairies seem to be making their appearance. This little guy gave us quite the show the other night.
They say hummingbirds spiritually represent inspiration and hope, and can be a guiding light that can move you closer to fulfilling your dreams. I don’t know about moving me closer to fulfilling my dreams, but I do know they bring inspiration to my photography!
“The flower doesn’t dream of the bee, it blossoms and the bee comes to it!” ~Mark Nepo
I seem to be drawn to Spring themes and drawing from your inner self, lately. When I read this quote its says to me “don’t chase your dreams, relax and let your inner beauty blossom and you’ll attract goodness in your life.”
Are you letting your inner beauty blossom?

“The earth laughs in the flowers.” Ralph Waldo Emerson I did a double take when I first read this quote. But when I thought about our neighbor’s overgrown Forsythia bushes bursting up high above the fence line it made perfect sense. I can now imagine the earth bursting with laughter through the flowers as it awakens from the deep freeze of winter. How about you? Are you bursting with laughter as the flowers begin to come to life? I know I am!
